The thing about downtown girls is that they pair the most unexpected items of clothing together. Here, we attempt to capture their vibe in an outfit that's one part downtown cool, one part comfy and one part girly-girl.

Let's start with the skirt. A leather high waisted one would be best, but since leather's expensive, we'll go with this faux shiny one. Our tee shirt, by Blood is the New Black, pokes fun at those who would dare to wear a designer logo emblazoned across their chest while still paying homage to the late great YSL. For our purposes, we're tucking the tee into our high waisted skirt. We're securing the tee/skirt combo with this punk studded belt. I love a bit of bling, and these gold studs are bling without being too in your face. This belt isn't for the faint of heart, but it adds a bit of spunk to your outfit. We've gone with black ribbed tights to keep you warm, because everyone knows legs in short skirts can get quite frosty in the winter months. This is partially what dictated our footwear choice. Combat boots are very in at the moment, but we're choosing them for their comfort. A long night of dancing is tough for any feet, and feet in heels- forget it. You'll be soaking them in warm water for days afterward. Why not avoid all the pain and go with some comfortable footwear? I like these boots because they add a bit of cool to the outfit without trying too hard. Lastly, we're adding a dash of girly with this pink coat. Downtown hipsters don't favor the color, so you'll be sure to stand out in a sea of black leather jackets. This coat will keep you warm and set you apart from the pack. It's the perfect mixer to the rest of your outfit, and proves that you're not trying so hard that you don't dare don pink.
