Leather Jackets Spell ATTITUDE

by Sigrid 14. November 2011 15:28

Wear Your Attitude. Wearing your attitude is the best way to make a statement especially if you do not want to look generic. If you want to stand out, wearing clothes that are apt for  your personality is always a  good idea.

The Bad Girl Vibe. If you want to look like a bad girl, you can always wear one of those studded leather jackets. Yes they are still in style and they will always be so if you do not have them yet, you better get one today. The question is, where are you going to get them? There are some pretty nice studded leather jackets at Buckle.com priced at around $90 to $100. If you are a vegan, you can always get a faux leather jacket with studs. Do not forget to pair your leather jacket with a good set of leather boots too. No we aren’t talking biker girl here because this look is relatively versatile. In fact, you can wear a leather jacket with a tutu-inspired skirt.

The Good Girl. Good girls can wear studded leather jackets too but if you do not want to appear bad, you might have to stick to a cardigan or a plain leather jacket without embellishments. There are however a few studded leather jackets that do not appear like you’re a biker girl or Lady GaGa in her video for Telephone. Zara has a range of leather jackets for you to take a look at.

Again, wearing a leather jacket is always about attitude and if you think you cannot pull it off, it would be best not to wear one. The fashionable always have their own unique ways of pulling off wearing a leather jacket. So as it has always been, it all depends on you and your attitude towards fashion and towards leather jackets in particular.

How Should Women In Their 50s Dress?

by Sigrid 28. September 2011 23:39

You have reached the golden age i.e. 50 and you are now faced with a rather pressing question –what should I wear? For many women this is a pressing concern because the clothes they used to love now look odd on them –sometimes would look funny even that later on will not be that funny anymore. Thou shall not despair though because we have a few tricks up our sleeve.

If you have maintained your legs well, you can still show them off but don’t wear anything mini or else you might not get the respect you deserve –being 50 and all. Looking sexy does not necessarily mean you would have to wear ultra revealing outfits so something above the knee is a good call.

Avoid shapeless garments –this is an important rule to remember. Make sure that you wear structured clothing to enhance your figure.

Empire cuts for those with tummies. Alright we all have tummies but if you have a relatively bigger tummy compared to your tummy of yesteryears, wearing empire cut clothing would enhance your overall look.

Avoid revealing a lot of skin too especially on the cleavage area. When you’re 50 it would be apt to wear a camisole underneath wrap around dresses and blouses with v-neck tops.

You can still be trendy even if you are already 50 but make sure not to use too many accessories. As always, things should be in moderation. Don’t forget too that you can still wear button-front shirts either with a skirt or jeans.

Going bohemian while you are 50 or older is not really advisable but if you think you can pull off that look –you can still go bohemian. One reminder however, the less structured the dresses, the less flattering it will be on you.

What’s In 2011

by Sigrid 15. September 2011 18:48

There is really nothing new in the world of fashion this year because most of the collections are a rehash of past fashion trends just made more modern to suit the times.

Bring In The Lace

It seems that lace is the new trend this season. Victorian blouses are now being used everywhere and it did not seem to grow old in time. Since lace is back and has now come into the light yet again after a short slumber from 5 years back, you should make sure that you get something made from lace in your closet and we don’t mean sleepwear!

The intricacy of lace is just so attractive that it is no longer just for intimate wear. Here are a few photos that show you how trendy lace is and how you can incorporate it in your daily wear.

Whether you are going for a simple outfit with jeans or a corporate one, you will never go wrong with a blouse with lace trimmings.

For corporate wear you may take a look at Jason Wu’s beaded lace trim anorak paired with a lace underlay blouse. This is from his pre-fall collection for 2011. Although the whole attire is rather pricey, you may use it as inspiration.

Lace is truly versatile and also adds classiness to your clothing.

Apart from lace, other fashion trends are here to stay. There are however fewer indulgence for 2011 since the economy isn’t doing so well. This means that you can still use the clothes you had from last season and you will not look so last season at all.

Your military inspired items are still usable this season especially the coats. Your favorite jeans shouldn’t go to the trash bin either because jeans will always be in provided that they are still in great condition.

Outfit Inspiration: Cool Girl Chic

by Sarah 10. June 2009 05:51

If you haven't seen Christopher Kane's inspired planet of the apes dresses from the Spring09 collection, I suggest you click here. The entire collection is stellar, but those ape pieces are total standouts.

When I saw this piece at Forever21, I couldn't help but be reminded of Kane's pieces. It is, of course, a wolf, not an ape, but for some reason it still made me think of Christopher, and therefore, to want the piece.

Since it's only $13.80, I placed it in my online shopping cart. For fun, though, I put together an under $100 outfit that would work for summer using the wolf tank.

Check out Forever21.com for all the pieces used below.

Outfit Inspiration: Rainy Day Remedy

by Sarah 5. June 2009 04:23

I find that on rainy days like today, the best thing to do is to dress bright! Think sunshine, fresh fruit, and other such fun and colorful things. I've created a sample rainy day outfit below. The yellow jacket spices up the top, while the floral shirt grounds the look. The red wellies are absolutely adorable and add the big punch of color this outfit needs, especially given the dark jeansThe umbrella is both practical and whimsical, and the scarf will keep your neck warm. Best of all, the whole outfit comes out to under $100. If you like what you see, click the links above to purchase. I'm LOVING the umbrella and may just have to order it for myself. Happy puddle jumping!

Outfit Inspiration: Mad for Plaid!

by Sarah 5. May 2009 09:06

I don't know about you, but I'm pretty mad for plaid! This classic print has been around for ages, but this Spring, it's back and bigger than ever. Many people associated plaid with flannel and fall pieces, but plaid's gone springy at Forever21.com. All of the pieces in the image below can be found at the F21 website for under $30. I'm loving the chiffon plaid tanks, which are light and airy but still classic.  The great thing about plaid is that it spices up any outfit. All of these tops would look cute with a pair of worn in denim shorts, or a classy pair of Alex Wang-inspired khaki shorts. They'd even look great with a boring pair of Gap bermudas. The dresses are just screaming for a pair of cork heels.

Which piece is your favorite?
