That Woman And Her Fashion Sense

by Sigrid 10. September 2011 05:49

Wallis Simpson is one of history’s most controversial women. The American socialite led a King to abdicate the throne to marry her. Although she never became H.R.H., the divorcee became quite popular not only because of her influence on Edward but also with her fashion sense.

In a sense, Mrs. Simpson used her elegance , poise and fashion sense as her armor against those who at the time said bad things about her. That woman was never really accepted not only by Prince Edward’s family but also by the British media and the British people as a whole.

Wallis Simpson, although quite stylish, was maligned as “That Woman” or the woman who stole the King. The abdication of Edward was of course a rather tragic experience for the royal family but would have been something that no one would have paid much attention too today especially in this time and age where Prince Charles is himself divorced and married another divorcee Camilla Parker-Bowles.

One can debate about this for days on end of course but what happened to these two outcasts –Simpson and Prince Edward is something from the past and one must remember the politics of the times. Since Wallis Simpson was not to be called H.R.H. as per the instructions of the Queen Mother, Prince Edward bought her beautiful jewels fight for a Queen. Apart from her elegant way of dressing and her turning to couture houses in Paris during their exile in the late 30s, Mrs. Simpson always wore very noisy, attention-grabbing pieces.

It does not matter anymore whether Simpson actually loved the Prince or she was just fond of him or just wanted to become Queen someday –what matters is that decades after her death, her influence in fashion is still incorporated in modern style.

How To Dress Like Samantha Jones

by Sigrid 24. August 2011 03:56

Being as fashionable as Samantha Jones is not difficult and you do not need to spend a lot of money either. Samantha Jones is a fictional character from the Sex & The City series known for her rude but funny comments and her being uber sexy.

Samantha Jones intertwines class and sexiness in her outfits whether they are dresses or suits. From time to time she wears warm colors and sometimes other colors that are considered to be dull –but if she wears these supposedly dull colors, they somehow look beautiful.  In fact, she can make the wrong shade of green look fabulous! Now who can top that? Well, here’s the truth about it –you can.

More often than not ladies and gents, it is the wearer that make the clothes.

If you are a sensual woman like Samantha Jones, it won’t be that hard to get the look. You may also want to master her hair and makeup but be sure that it suits the shape of your face and your personal style. If you want to look uber sophisticated then Samantha Jones is the best inspiration aside of course from Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis –but that is a different story altogether.

Now back to Samantha Jones. You should know your body –get to know it, every shape and curve and see what types of clothes fit you. It does not matter if you don it with designer clothes or something you just bought from a mart. What matters is it looks good on you.

Try not to compare yourself to other women too because this will not do you any good –every woman is different and you are unique. If you really want to be like Samantha Jones, make sure that you make a statement with each outfit you wear.

How To Dress Like Carrie Bradshaw Without Spending Too Much

by Sigrid 10. August 2011 03:01

Dressing like writer Carrie Bradshaw in the Sex and the City series is something that a lot of her fans would love to do. If you are a fan of the character, you may want to take a closer look at this blog.

Dressing like Carrie Bradshaw does not mean you would go penniless for months because you want to wear all the designer clothes and designer shoes she wears.  There are just a few key things you should remember:

 1.       Carrie does it funky. More often than not, Carrie mixes textures and colors. Mix it up a little and you will do fine.

2.  It’s the shoes. The shoes count of course and Carrie loves her Manolos.

 3. Confidence is key.

 4. Colors do not have to go together, you can wear red together with blue if you want.

 5.  Accessorize. Do not be afraid to use accessories especially those that enhance your outfit.

Alright, Manolo Blahnik shoes are uber expensive but there is a way for you to get them. One way is for you to go to thrift shops or to second hand designer shop. There are also charity places you can go to. The elite give away some of their designer stuff in these places and more often than not, they are sold at a real bargain. Do not horde clothes though because there are people who actually need them not only for fashion’s sake but as a necessity.

Another way to get the Carrie Bradshaw look is to learn how to sew. If you cannot afford those expensive designer dresses –you may want to recreate them yourself. This is a good activity for you and a great way to exercise your creativity as well. Remember however that in your pursuit to dress like Bradshaw, make sure that you retain your own sense of style.

Jacqueline Kennedy Fashion

by Sigrid 8. August 2011 04:40

Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy (Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis later in life) is one of the most popular women in modern times. A fashion icon, Jackie as she was popularly known by the American people was always seen wearing something sophisticated and fashionable.

A Background On Jacqueline Kennedy

Jackie is one of the youngest First Ladies of the United States of America who was only 31 when her husband became President. She hails from Southampton and born to Black Jack Bouvier, a stock broker and Janet Norton Lee.

Whats In Jacqueline Kennedys Closet?

Below are a few things that Jackie has in her closet. Take note however that her mode of dressing is very apt for the 60s and need to be given a modern twist.

Sleeveless A-Line Dresses and Skirts. Jackie O had these items usually in white, taupe or pink.

White Jeans. Yep she loved them so! You would need to own a few white jeans because they are classy and they go with any type of blouse or shirt. They are also quite sophisticated.

Black Turtleneck. This is one of her signature clothes. If really want to emulate Jacqueline Kennedy, you got to have a black turtleneck.

Valentino. Alright Valentino is not exactly something that is affordable but you can always go to thrift stores or stores that sell second hand designer clothes. Jacqueline Kennedy had lots of Valentino silk shirts and trousers.

Hermes Scarf. It does not have to be a Hermes scarf really, all you have to do is find a good, silk scarf of any brand and you are good to go.

2011 Jewelry Fashion Alert: Animal Jewelry

by Kylie 31. January 2011 04:09

Animal Jewelry is becoming more popular as high-end jewelry makers are producing special collections devoted to the animal kingdom . Even insects and bugs are getting their share of attention with new and interesting designs. Staying up with the latest trends doesn't have to be overly expensive. By selecting sterling silver jewelry you give yourself a great look that will last a lifetime. Here are three pieces for under $100 that are the perfect way to rock this emerging style trend. This animal trend allows you to have a piece that reflects your personality and style.

The first piece is a silver snake from Tiffany and Co. Tiffany is world renown for their beautiful silver jewelry and this piece is no exception. The silver snake pendent is attached to a black necklace and makes a great casual piece that can be worn often.

The next selection is from Zulu Moon. Zulumoon.com is known for its large selection of sterling silver jewelry at reasonable price points. Zulu Moon features a full line of Silver animal jewelry but I have selected a pair of silver animal earrings. These silver dragonfly earrings make the perfect addition to any collection and are another great casual piece.

The third piece of jewelry I have selected is a silver Owl pendent. The Owl pendent, from Amazon.com, represents wisdom and is even Pandora bracelet compatible. The silver Owl is from Bling Jewelry and crafted form 925 sterling silver.

Hot Trend: Skeleton Key Jewelry

by Kylie 23. July 2010 04:42

Are you searching for an accessory that will unlock your style? A new jewelry trend is skeleton key jewlery, and if you are doing your back to school shopping, these key pendents are a must have for the fall. Trendsetters and young celebrites have found key jewelry to be a unique piece that can be worn as a charm, necklace or even earrings. Celebrities like Leighton Meester, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift are wearing similar key necklaces but probably paid hundreds for a style that is simple to recreate.

The fleur-de-lis pendent, gothic designs or more traditional key designs are also a common trait found in one or more of the pieces. The inspiration behind the key jewelry is thought to have been started by the famous, Tiffany and Co. but here at the Budget Fashion Report, we are always seeking out ways to get celebrity style on a budget. One option is to actually find old keys and turn them into necklaces. Searching antique shops or even stores like Anthropologie, you may stumble across a unique looking key. Another way to achieve the same look as these celeberites is to opt for sterling silver and CZ key pendents. Going this route will still give you the great look but without the high cost.

The leighton Meester look:

Leighton is wearinga classic skeleton key design. The skeleton key design is characterized with the three loops at the top of the key. A comparable and more reasonably priced pendent would be something like this.

the Selena Gomez look:

Selena is wearing what I would classify is a more gothic design key.  This piece is a little more intricate compared to the previous pendent. Something similar to this design would be something like this charm here. The design has a fleur-de-lis in the handle and gives you that intricate patterned look. Reinvent this look with a shorter chain.

the Taylor Swift look:

Taylor is wearing a pendent that looks more like a real key than the two previous. I would recommend trying to find an actual old antique key but if you can't, a piece that is similar to this would be this key design. Recreate this look with a silver chain and loop the key onto the chain.
