Shopping For Baby Items

by Sigrid 20. February 2012 08:34

Trying to pick the right clothes for your kids? It is difficult to be shopping for clothes all the time especially when you are a new parent since you do not have a direct exposure yet on what to buy and what not to buy.

We all want to give our kids the best and preferably the most expensive stuff we can afford however it is definitely impractical to be buying branded baby items because babies grow every few weeks. And when they finally become toddlers, you would have to buy new clothes and new shoes again. This will definitely cost a dent to your budget especially if you are trying to save some money. Aside from looking for bargains at the mall or going to thrift shops, you may want to try going to yard sales. It’s alright if you buy your child secondhand clothes as long as you wash them before you have your baby wear them. It would save you a lot of money this way if you do this.

For parents who want to buy new clothes however, you can go to Zulily. The website is a new online store that offers fabulous deals on baby items. Whether you are looking for shirts and pants or pyjamas for your little ones, you would surely find a few items you’d like. The good thing about this website is that it carries a number of brands so you can choose from a range of products at real affordable prices.

There are other websites like Zulily but if you want to find a place that offers discounts, this place is definitely a good place to go to. We do not sell anything from the said place, this is just an advise for parents who would like to expand their horizons when it comes to shopping for baby items.

Geek Makeover Part II

by Sigrid 18. February 2012 02:46

If you think you’d look good with a goatee, then you should make sure that you have the patience to do so. Growing one takes a lot of practice. If you are new to doing a makeover on yourself, it is suggested that you stick with being clean shaven.

Now let’s focus on other parts of the face before we focus on your wardrobe. You should at least tame your eyebrows. Some men look good and sexy with a unibrow i.e. two eyebrows connected to each other because they are uber hairy but most don’t so it would be better to clean it up nicely.

Now let’s focus on the wardrobe. Dorky shirts are cute but if you already look geeky or have the reputation for being a nerd then it might be best to lay off those shirts for a while or at least when going out on a date. Don’t wear suspenders either because as we’ve said before, only Larry King can pull it off without looking like a laughing stock. Choose shirts with solid colors and as long as it doesn’t stop traffic, it’s fine.

If you are one of those guys who have Star Trek uniforms in your closet, you better hide these because you wont be using them except for Comicon however one spells that.

Choose wardrobe that is right for you. You pants should never be too tight to make you look like one of those emo kids and not too loose that one would think you are trying to be hiphop or look like a rapper. Choose jeans or trousers that look good on you –do not be influenced by trends. Decent jeans are difficult to find especially if you do not know what kind of jeans are right for you. It may be better if you try on 3 different kinds and see which one look best.

Geek Makeover Part I

by Sigrid 12. February 2012 23:09

Admit it ladies, there were those boys you rejected in high school but would like to go out on a date with now.  Remember those nerds you laughed at before? Well some of them turned out to be hot, hot, hot! Alright, this may be untrue but some of them probably just need a makeover.

In movies, nerdy guys usually don’t get a makeover and still get the hot girls however in real life, most of the nerds are snobbed by the ladies. Sad as it may sound this is the plain truth and nothing but the truth. If you are one of those men, it may be time for a makeover but how does one start?

The first thing that one should do is to take a look at oneself in front of the mirror and ask “What makes me look geeky?”  Let’s focus on the face first, if you are wearing geeky glasses, it may be time to get cuter ones. It’s all about the frame really. You should pick one that suits the shape of your face, the color of your skin and the color of your eyes. According to experts, the prime element in choosing the right color of the frames for your eyeglasses is the color of your skin. All complexions fall into two categories or color bases – cool and warm. In the US, 60% of the population is in the cool skin tone category. The next thing you should consider is your eye color then the color of your hair. Those who belong to the cool color category i.e. white to olive should use eyeglass frames with hues raging from black to silver to blue gray to jade. Those in the warm category should pick something lighter.

Now the next thing you should look at is what you can do to your face to make it look more attractive –is it time to shave? Is it time to grow a goatee?

From Geek To Chic: Reasons Why You Should Be Nice To That Geek Girl In High School

by Sigrid 8. February 2012 22:43

You can take a girl out of high school but you can’t take high school out of the girl –we’ve heard this a lot of times before but is high school really that important in our lives? Here’s a lesson for those who have treated geeky and rather unappealing girls in high school –most of them are just late bloomers and they become hot later on.

From fiction to real life, there are quite a few people who used to be caterpillars and are now beautiful butterflies (not literally of course).

In fiction, one good example is Ugly Betty. When she started working for Meade publications, she looked like a total loser but by season 4 she looked kind of awesome and very chic. We also included a photo of America Ferreira on the cover of Marie Claire.

Another good example (and this is not fiction) is Demi Moore. Fine, she was cross-eyed when she was a kid and that wasn’t even in high school but just look at her now. Maybe it is safe to assume that people change.

Another celebrity who got a major makeover is Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker also known as SJP. She looked quite unattractive in her yearbook and most probably not one of the popular kids judging from the photo but now, look at her! She is the go-to person when it comes to fashionable clothes. Fine, a lot of people still say that she is not pretty but really, she is still an attractive (and very talented) woman.

Emma Watson also turned out to be quite a beautiful woman and no one can deny that. In fact, she looks quite hot doesn’t she? Here’s your lesson boys, don’t ever be rude to those geeky girls in schools because they might turn out to be real hot later on.

Valentine's Day: The Three Types Of Men

by Sigrid 4. February 2012 22:23

So you asked that one girl out for Valentine’s Day and you don’t care if other men tell you it’s just pure cheese to be going out on that day. If you are conscious about what you should wear, here are a few tips.

The Dork. Sure, a lot of people don’t like nerds but since The Big Bang Theory aired, nerds never looked so good with their dorky t-shirts and suits. So how about that look? If you are the nerdy type, you can spice up those dorky t-shirts and look all manly and who knows, you might even ooze with sex appeal. That last part is quite important. Just lay off the suspenders PLEASE. Remember that only Larry King can pull them off without looking funny.

The Casanova. Who wouldn’t want to be dating James Bond? No you do not have to fake your accent, what matters here are the clothes you wear. A bow tie is a good idea if you are going to an uber classy place just make sure that you fit the Casanova profile so you do not look like a wannabe. Men who stand at least 5’10” and taller particularly look good in suits and it doesn’t even matter if you look a bit scruffy as long as you still look neat.

The Artist. Now this is the type who looks cool and sexy yet still very casual. One good example is the Vincent Bianchi character in the Ugly Betty series. He is cool, sexy and looks uber hot in a leather jacket. Leather jackets are nice on men (and women of course) and it sends off an air of being macho. Now do not get carried away though because even if you want to look as hot or as cool as Bianchi, you have to pay attention whether the look suits you or not.

Valentine's Day Clothes: What Should Women Wear?

by Sigrid 31. January 2012 08:18

Photo via showyinfashion.blog.com

It’s almost the month of la-la-la-love and you are excited for your big date. Some find Valentine’s Day cheesy but don’t let them bother you and focus on what you are going to wear for that dinner date.

The first thing to do is take a look at what you have in your closet and if you have a cocktail dress then it should be fine. However, you might not want to wear red on this day because most people would wear red. Black is a good substitute but if you want to sparkle so to speak, you should pick a different color.

The clothes you would be wearing for Valentine’s Day however would depend on the date you will be going to. If it’s just a casual date, then do not wear a cocktail dress. Choose something simpler for the occasion.

For those looking for dresses, you have to admit that buying a $500 designer dress always causes a lot of guilt. There are cheap dresses out there that are made of high quality materials as well however, you can always splurge and then save later on. Buying a designer dress made from high quality materials is a great way to save money in the long run because they last longer but one should remember that buying expensive clothes does not necessarily mean they will last for a long time. One still has to take a look at the materials used for the product.

If you are excited for Valentine’s Day, you better start shopping your closet now or take a look at the bargains you can find in your favorite boutique.

On Valentine’s Day, it pays to look good –no one wants to be ditched by her date on that day because that would be heartbreaking. Now, it doesn’t matter how expensive the clothes you will be wearing or how much of a bargain it is, what matters is that you look good in them.

Splurge...Then Save!

Winter Wear Fashion

by Sigrid 25. January 2012 07:01

It’s snowing outside and it’s pretty cold. However, you can’t let the cold stop you from looking hot so here are a few winter wear photos that will inspire your outfits for the next few weeks.

You do not have to go with trends really. You can wear black, beige or brown and still look fabulous. Lay off the colorful coats unless they are uber beautiful. If you are not sure about your fashion sense or lack thereof, better stick with the colors mentioned above. To inspire you with your winter wear, we took a few photos online for your perusal.

For a more casual look, you can use less serious colors like purple or violet. Take a look at the photo below.

If you think there is already a need for you to replenish your closet with winter clothes, here are a few things to keep in mind. If someone says that the dumber your headwear is for winter, the warmer your head will be? Well this could be true in some cases but there are very nice head gear out there that will protect your brain from the cold. Take a pick! Your headwear doesn’t have to look dorky.

Still worried about what you should wear this season? Keeping it simple is a good idea because often, simplicity translates to elegance. Pairing a neutral gray jacket for example with skin tight jeans and black boots is a good way to start. Then just pick a scarf you really like and get a black bag and you’re done! If you are not up to buying a new coat for yourself this winter, it might be high time to get a new scarf. If you already have a neutral gray coat or a black one then that should do it –you will definitely stretch your budget if you invest on these.

Gold, Silver, Top Jewelry Designers For 2012

by Sigrid 23. January 2012 05:26

Although in the ancient times, most peoples from across the globe wore gold, come the 13th century, medieval laws prohibited the common people to wear gold or silver. Townspeople in France were no longer allowed to adorn themselves with gold or silver because only the nobility could wear them.

This is a sad phase in terms of fashion accessories but as with any phase, it later on was forgotten and people went back to wearing gold and silver jewelry.

Gold is a favorite metal for jewelry however, silver was also quite popular in the olden times as much as it is a staple metal in jewelry making today.

If you love jewelry, here are the top designer brands you should be looking out for but there is no need for you to spend a lot of money landing on these though because there are places where you can get them at real low prices. First off let’s talk about the top brands for jewelry this 2012. Tiffany and Co. is a household favorite and every year the brand gets to launch simple yet very vibrant pieces in trendy silver.

No one forgets about Chanel when one talks about high end jewelry and this 2012, as with any other year, Chanel will be selling elegant jewelry pieces. This means ladies that pearls are in not out but if those pearl strings also have ubiquitous C logos, that would be much better.

The Kardashians are out with their new Kollection as well and yes it starts with another K but if you do not want to get something from that line, you can always take a look at the surprisingly hot jewelry collection by Nicole Richie.

If you like nature inspired jewelry however the Kardashian Kollection might be a good idea too.

Jewelry: More Than Just Bling

by Sigrid 20. January 2012 04:03

Ahhh…don’t we just love wearing accessories. For women, this is a necessity especially if they want to make their outfit more appealing. Wearing of accessories is an age old thing across cultures –from the gold trinkets women used in ancient Egypt in 3000BC to the gold and gemstones adorned on necks and ears of Greek women in 1400 BC to empire jewelry to the plastic some of us use today –accessories prove to be an important part of every era.

In ancient Egypt, gold was the metal of choice for making jewelry not only because it was rare and doesn’t tarnish but also because of its malleability. Pendants, necklaces, armlets, rings and bracelets among other trinkets were made by the ancient Egyptians. Collars of gold were also made for those of noble blood. In 1922, a man by the name of Howard Carter found Tutankhamun’s tomb. His discovery led the world to see the intricate funerary artifacts showing the art work of the Egyptians. The gold mask of the Pharaoh Tutankhamun was not just an archaeological find but also a good discovery that serves the purposes of jewelers all around the globe.

Accessories are an important part of a woman’s wardrobe and an important part of a man’s wardrobe too although they are usually just limited to necklaces and watches.

In 1400 BC, the Greeks made beaded jewelry formed into leaves, beetles and other natural objects. Earrings and necklaces were in fact found in a Greek burial site and these items were multi colored and just absolutely beautiful.

After the Greeks, we have the Italians using gold for Roman coinage. The Italians also made clasps and necklaces from gold – 18 and 24 carat ones to be exact.

Today, we still buy jewelry whether they are made purely from gold or are just gold plated.
