Come stroll with me...

by Christine 30. March 2009 17:56
I was inspired by the beautiful mornings and gorgeous sunsets here in La Jolla, where I am currently vacationing with my parents, and decided to create this upbeat but casual and airy outfit. Not only are most of these items either super affordable or vastly on sale, I find them to be the perfect get up for strolling around town on a lovely Saturday, enjoying the sunshine after a yummy waffle-and-eggs brunch. And, the open, cardigan vest is perfect for covering up a bit when the weather is warm but still a bit nippy, and the wedge peep-toes are the perfect height, with just the right heel.

Sweet Swimwear

by Christine 29. March 2009 19:51

Lately I have been dreaming of swimsuits. And, seeing that I am currently in California, it must be all the sand, sun and surf surrounding me right now. I poked around the web a bit to see if I could find some cute, affordable options and kept seeing a reoccuring theme of retro-inspired halter top suits with fun polka dots or hearts. I picked a few that were my favorite (each under $40!) and wanted to share them with you, dear readers. What do you think of this style of suit? Do you prefer one pieces or two? I would love to know!

Hello from San Diego!

by Christine 26. March 2009 17:09
Hi my loves. Well, I finally arrived in San Diego tonight! I met my parents here to celebrate my Dad's 60th Birthday and my parents 35th Anniversary and get a nice break with them until Wednesday. Anyway, I am feeling a little jet-lagged at the moment seeing that it is only 10:30PM here but is actually 1:30AM in New York. So, it's off to bed for me. But, stay tuned for fun photos of warm-weather wear from yours truly, including my new, cute striped bikini

Shop Your Closet

by Christine 25. March 2009 08:55
Let's play the game, Shop Your Closet. The way to begin is to get inspired by a certain look or style, then go into your wardrobe and pick out similar pieces that you own already. Then supplement with just a couple of items, in this case for me, it was a pair of affordable shoes ($40!) and cute pants from J.Crew that are half off! The key isn't to copycat the look that you drew your inspiration from, but more to show and remind you that you can mix and match your clothing in cool, fresh and fun ways that you might have not though of before. For me, the outfit that I created was drawn from retro-feeling pieces, such as cropped pants, oxfords and ruffly cardigans. I snooped around my own closet and found that I had about 3/4 of the outfit already. Now all I have to do is purchase the bottom halves—shoes and pants! Now, go shop your own closet, and remember, HAVE FUN!!!

Office Chic

by Christine 24. March 2009 07:09
This outfit is a perfect ensemble for the office as the spring and summer months (slowly) begin to approach. And, when shopping for classic pieces that you will most likely wear to work, I always like to splurge on one main item that I can wear with many different things, such as a simple yet chic Theory skirt like the one above. It is now $120 down from $20, which is still a considerable amount of money, but you can easily balance this out by saving on affordable accesories and inexpensive tops. For instance, seeing that the skirt is the more pricier item, aim for accent pieces that are $20 or $30 and under. The cute tie-neck blouse is only $18 down from $40, the cuff is $20 down from $34 and the shoes, clutch and belt are all under $30! So in my opinion, by splurging in one area and saving in others, it all evens out quite nicely! And, a tip to keep in mind when shopping for more expensive items, make sure it will go with at least five items that you already own in your closet. That way you know it will be a sure bet!

All about the stripes.

by Christine 24. March 2009 05:17

Today I ducked into H&M to see if they had anything new and cute. Well, of course they did, which became way too tempting for me, especially when I spotted a cute blue and white striped bikini. Since I am headed to California on Thursday and don't currently like any of my swimsuits, I decided that it was worth it to try it on. Amazingly enough it fit perfectly, which I feel never happens with bathing suits, so I took it as a sign and purchased it immediately. Incredibly excited about my find, I decided I wanted to create an outfit around it that I might wear on the beach when I get to San Diego later this week. So I went with a laidback vibe with comfy basics and a bright red bag! What do you think of striped swimsuits? What about stripes in general? I would have to say that I am generally obsessed with them!

(Sadly I was not able to find my suit online, but luckily Top Shop had a similar one!)
