Office Chic

by Christine 24. March 2009 07:09
This outfit is a perfect ensemble for the office as the spring and summer months (slowly) begin to approach. And, when shopping for classic pieces that you will most likely wear to work, I always like to splurge on one main item that I can wear with many different things, such as a simple yet chic Theory skirt like the one above. It is now $120 down from $20, which is still a considerable amount of money, but you can easily balance this out by saving on affordable accesories and inexpensive tops. For instance, seeing that the skirt is the more pricier item, aim for accent pieces that are $20 or $30 and under. The cute tie-neck blouse is only $18 down from $40, the cuff is $20 down from $34 and the shoes, clutch and belt are all under $30! So in my opinion, by splurging in one area and saving in others, it all evens out quite nicely! And, a tip to keep in mind when shopping for more expensive items, make sure it will go with at least five items that you already own in your closet. That way you know it will be a sure bet!

by Christine 20. March 2009 06:37

Sigh. It is snowing in New York today. Really? Well, to fight the ugly weather and continue on celebrating the first day of spring, I wanted find a bright, cheerful outfit (all items on sale!) and so I chose aaround a very orange dres and cute neutral-colored shoes. Here's hoping there is sunny weather in NY's future! Happy Friday and enjoy the weekend!

Complete Look for Under $150!

by Christine 17. March 2009 14:56

I recently saw a pretty outdoor space that was decorated in neutral browns with bright pops of orange. I know it isn't exactly a new color trend, but I still seem to fall in love the combination every time I see it. So, when I saw this lovely printed dress (on sale!) from Banana Republic, I couldn't help it but to add orange pumps to it to give it some zest. Then, by pairing the whole outfit with an equally netual brown bag and earrings, the bright color becomes the main focal point of the outfit. And, the whole ensemble is under $150! Perfection!

Working Girl

by Christine 5. March 2009 10:48

Based around two hot items, the top and skirt, I saw today that happen to be on sale, I decided to create a chic and classy work outfit with them. I would tuck the top into the skirt and top it off with these affordable accessories, such as the perfect black bag, necklace and shoes. Although I don't always dress up when going to work, I would definitely rock this office number if I had a big client meeting, had an interview, or an important lunch with my boss. I think it is the perfect combination of a serious yet stylish look. Now tell me, what do you wear to work everyday?

Grapevine: Sale At Banana!

by Becca 22. January 2009 06:28

I've always had a secret penchant for the styles over at Banana Republic. While the appeal solely to the prep in me, even if that isn't your taste it's impossible to deny how well everything they sell is fitted - be you short of stature (Hello!) or of the Gwyneth Paltrow variety like today's Tipster The Duchess, you're sure to find a fit that works.

I'm all about tips when it comes to big sales, something my friend the Duchess knows quite well. Imagine my delight to open my email this morning to her message:

" Banana Republic is having a big sale on-line.  If you enter the promo code TAKE25 today then you get an additional 25% off.  The purses are especially discounted.  One is going for $19, so with the discount $15 and it was originally like $100+.  All leather!"

GASP.

This seemed too good to be true, but a jaunt over to their site proved that the Duchess had not steered me wrong. For example -

Um, can we say Meeee-ow? Delish. Get to the sale while the getting's good, friends. And a hand for a the Duchess - just goes to show, true royalty never lets you down.

Stylish Steals: Three outfits at three different prices!

by Christine 12. January 2009 05:21

After scouring the web for just the right bargains, I managed to pull together three different looks, for three different occasions, at three different prices: $100, $75 and $50. Each piece is something you can wear again and again and again!

I always like to splurge a bit for work attire—you know the old saying, "dress to impress!" So, this first outfit is the most expensive, coming in just under $100. The pieces were found mostly at Banana Republic where they are having a super sale on their items. Definitely worth checking out and you'll look like a million bucks at a much lower price!

  Shown clockwise:

Silk cowlneck top, $69.00 $34.99 (on sale!)

Taffeta tulip skirt, $110.00 $29.99 (on sale!)

Super opaque ontrol top tights, $12.50 or 2 for $20

Delicious Minmin Pumps, $14.99

Snake Chain Hoop Earrings, $3.80

Isn't this two-toned dress so cute? I love how it gives off a slightly flirty vibe, but still remains looking relaxed and won't make you look like you are trying to hard. And, let's be honest, you want to look well put together but not spend a fortune, so, I searched for the main piece, the dress, at the cute, online shop, Alloy.com. This cute outfit tallied up to be under $75! Pair a few simple accessories with this fun frock and you'll be ready for a night out with that special someone!

Women's Opaque Tights, $6.50 $4.99 (on sale!)

Last but not least, here is a great outfit for the weekend. I find it important to look put together in a relaxed yet stylish way when headed to a weekend brunch with friends or catching a movie with the boyfriend. This casual cute outfit rings in at $50! These items happen to be from my very favorite go-to store, the amazing Forever 21. I always seem to find such great things there and the best part is, you can try out a fun, new trend without having to drop a lot of money doing so. And, as my mother keeps reminding me, it is the "year of the cardigan" and I have to agree with her. They are everywhere, and I own a ton of them. They are great to just toss on over any outfit for a casual yet stylish touch. P.S. Don't you just love that Beattles bag? I think I want to order it right now!
